Description | Persian blue salt is a fossil salt or rock salt, unlike sea salt. These crystals formed 100 million years ago in Precambrian seas. This sapphire-blue salt was formed by the evaporation of ancient lakes and inland seas. Persian blue salt is extracted from the slopes of the Elbourz mountain range. A very dry, non-iodized salt, it has many nutritional qualities: rich in calcium, magnesium, iron and potassium. With only a few tons extracted each year, Persian blue salt is one of the rarest in the world. Its blue color comes from the potassium ore called sylvinite. |
