| The estate |
The Brunel family has been involved in winegrowing since the 17th century. In 1954, Lucien Brunel founded Domaine Les Cailloux. It grew rapidly from 1971 under the impetus of André Brunel. He was one of the first in Châteauneuf-du-Pape to use grass cover and a non-chemical approach to vine growing. In 2012, his son Fabrice Brunel joined him to continue the family tradition. The estate boasts 21 ha of AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape, including 2 ha of white, spread over ten neighborhoods. |
| Viticulture |
Les Cailloux Blanc is blended from 2 parcels: Les Serres dedicated to Roussanne, which brings aroma, finesse and elegance, and Le Revès dedicated to Grenache Blanc, which brings structure and power. The pebbly terroir, so characteristic of the appellation, gives this great white wine the ageing capacity it needs to express its full potential in a few years’ time. The average age of the vines is 30 years. Harvesting is exclusively manual. |
| Winemaking |
Maceration in concrete vats, followed by 6 months ageing on lees in concrete vats. No malolactic fermentation and no aging in oak barrels. |
