2016 is a great vintage on a par with 1962, 1982, 1989, 2005, 2009 and even 2010! It is superior to the magnificent 2015. The wines show great richness and concentration, but very often with magnificent balance. This is the expression of a vintage of great maturity with ripe tannins. The 2016 wines will be easy to understand when young, but they will also have great ageing potential. After a rather wet spring, the summer was dry, with just the right amount of rain in mid-September before the harvest. This resulted in an excellent harvest, both in terms of quality and quantity.
