Description

Podere 29

A young estate established in 2003, located in northern Puglia near the town of Cerignola, just 20 km from the Adriatic Sea. Giuseppe Marrano, assisted by his father, passionately cultivates the grape varieties of his region, crafting wines of great expression and precision. He has always followed organic farming practices in his vineyards, though without formal certification. Therefore, after several years, Giuseppe decided to apply for European organic certification, which he received with the 2019 vintage.

Puglia

Located in the heel of Italy's boot, Puglia is one of the country's most dynamic and sunniest wine regions. Bordered by the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, the region enjoys a warm, dry climate tempered by sea breezes. The diverse soils impart a generous, characterful profile to the wines.

Puglia is particularly renowned for its red wines, made from indigenous grape varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro, and Nero di Troia. These grapes, perfectly adapted to the local conditions, produce intense wines with notes of dark fruit, spice, and garrigue. The region also distinguishes itself with its fresh and aromatic white wines, notably those made from Verdeca and Fiano Minutolo, which add a welcome diversity to the wine production.

Long considered a land of high-volume production, the region has experienced a genuine qualitative renaissance over the past several decades. The focus is on promoting traditional grape varieties and sustainable viticulture.

What is a natural wine?

A natural wine is made from organic or biodynamic grapes, harvested by hand and vinified without chemical inputs. No yeast or additives are used, and sulfur is very limited. The wine thus fully reflects the terroir and the winemaker's work.
