Haut de Beauregard 2019, Cairanne AOC, Domaine des Amadieu

Regular price CHF 0.00

Description

This Cairanne red, with its romantic name, is synonymous with harmony and elegance. The nose, complex and intense, reveals delicately woody, fruity, and spicy notes. Beautifully deep, the palate blends power and freshness with firm tannins. A wine of great finesse, it will benefit from decanting for an hour before serving or from a few years of cellaring. A very limited production, with approximately 2,400 bottles made annually, it will be the perfect companion to finely prepared beef tenderloin dishes.

Food and wine pairings

A beautiful grilled aged rib of beef, a Chateaubriand cooked at low temperature or a roast beef fillet with parsley.

The garrigue soils, hillsides, and clay-limestone terraces face Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail. Yields are controlled through green harvesting practices such as bud thinning and cluster thinning. Harvesting is done by hand with very rigorous berry selection.

The grapes are destemmed and vinified in separate vats. This is followed by maceration for over three weeks with gentle pump-overs and punch-downs. After malolactic fermentation, the best wines from the estate are blended. Finally, Haut de Beauregard is aged for 18 months in eight selected French oak barrels in a temperature-controlled cellar. No fining is carried out, but a light filtration is performed.

Domaine des Amadieu

Located in the village of Cairanne in the southern Rhône Valley, the estate was established in 1992 by a local family. The winery, built at the same time, blends seamlessly into the farmhouse. An authentic mid-19th-century building, it was once home to a family named Amadieu. Yves Jean and Corine, both trained as agricultural engineers and with roots in the land, acquired this 7-hectare property in 2007 as part of a conversion project. Domaine des Amadieu is certified organic and biodynamic.

Southern Rhône Valley

It is one of France's major wine regions, renowned for its many iconic appellations. Stretching along the Rhône River between Vienne and Avignon, it is divided into two distinct parts: the north and the south. The latter is a vast mosaic where the AOCs (Appellations d'Origine Contrôlée) give pride of place to Grenache Noir, primarily blended with Syrah and Mourvèdre. White wines are represented notably by Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, and Roussanne.

In the south, the diverse terroirs of rolled pebbles, sand, and clay produce generous, sun-drenched, and warm wines. The Rhône Valley is also marked by a long winemaking tradition and a strong commitment to respecting the terroir. Many winemakers there now practice sustainable viticulture.
