Use

To remove those unwanted cardboard, dusty, or musty tastes, you need to rinse your decanter. Pour in a few centiliters of wine, stir gently, then discard those few centiliters, which will have acted as a cleaning agent. It's now ready to receive wine.

Vacu Vin invented the original Wine Saver in 1986. With his passion for wine, he has since specialized in wine accessories.
This high-quality decanter is designed for aerating and serving young wines. Its wide shape allows for greater contact between the wine and the air. For additional aeration, pour the wine vigorously into the decanter. For older wines, we recommend using a narrower decanter to minimize contact between the wine and the air. The idea is to transfer the wine to another container to separate the sediment (decanting) rather than simply aerating it.

You can store your carafes in a cupboard or in their original box. However, they will always accumulate dirt regardless of how they are stored.

Wash your wine decanter promptly, inside and out, after each use. Remove any residue, stains, wine stains, or fingerprints. However, if washing your wine decanter immediately isn't possible, fill it with water to loosen the wine and make cleaning easier. Dry the exterior, then turn the decanter upside down on a drying rack. Once the last drops have dripped, wipe away any remaining water with a clean microfiber cloth.

Use the dishwasher only as a last resort and only for cleaning solid wine decanters (never crystal). Be sure to use a delicate wash cycle, avoid the heat drying cycle, and separate the decanters so they don't bump against each other. However, since dishwashers tend to leave some residue, you'll get better results in the long run by handwashing.
