The vines, planted on steep slopes with schist and granite soil, benefit from a south-southeast exposure. Mechanization is impossible, which is why all vineyard work is done by hand. The whole harvest is transported in 40 kg crates to the winery.

Coursodon

A fifth-generation winemaker, Jérôme joined his father Pierre at the estate in 1998. By crafting fine and elegant wines, he has left his mark on the Domaine and likes to say that "it's the sum of the small details that makes the difference." This philosophy guides every vintage of Domaine Coursodon, whose wines are now recognized as among the finest in the Saint-Joseph appellation. They owe this recognition in particular to the constant pursuit of excellence that has driven all generations of the Coursodon family. The Domaine's vineyards (16 hectares, including 13.5 hectares of red wines and 2.5 hectares of white wines) are primarily located in Mauves, the birthplace of Saint-Joseph, on granitic soil, a terroir ideal for Syrah. A few parcels are also spread across the surrounding villages.

Northern Rhône Valley

The Rhône Valley is one of France's major wine regions, renowned for its many iconic appellations. It stretches along the Rhône River, between Vienne and Avignon, and is divided into two distinct parts: the north and the south. The northern part is smaller and dominated by Syrah for red wines and Viognier for white wines.

The hillsides are steep, and the vines, planted in granite soils, give rise to elegant, intense, and spicy red wines, with a remarkable expression of Syrah. It is also the cradle of great white wines made from Viognier and Marsanne, renowned for their finesse and complexity.

The Rhône Valley is also marked by a long winemaking tradition and a strong commitment to respecting the terroir. Many winegrowers there now practice sustainable viticulture.

What is a natural wine?

What is a natural wine?

A natural wine is made from organic or biodynamic grapes, harvested by hand and vinified without chemical inputs. No yeast or additives are used, and sulfur is very limited. The wine thus fully reflects the terroir and the winemaker's work.
