Beschreibung

The Kessler, meaning "coppersmith," is the registered plot located in the Heisse Wanne (the warm basin), a testament to the heat of this Grand Cru. It is a sandy-clay-sandstone terroir facing due south. In its upper, very steep section, it produces very vigorous and mineral wines with magnificent aging potential, particularly the great Rieslings.

A highly aromatic and complex nose. On the palate, an explosion of flavors including fresh fruit, citrus, and floral notes. Rich and refined, with a beautifully structured acidity. A long and luscious finish. A true Grand Cru made entirely from Riesling.

To learn more

To strengthen the vines' natural defenses, herbal teas and decoctions are used: nettle, horsetail, willow, and meadowsweet. This practice became standard across the entire estate in 1998. The vines are plowed in the autumn and spring, and natural ground cover is re-established in the summer to prevent erosion caused by storms and to promote biodiversity. Some very narrow or terraced vineyards are worked with a draft horse.

Domaine Dirler Cadé

Domaine Dirler-Cadé is located in Alsace, in the small village of Bergholtz, exactly halfway (25 km) between Colmar and Mulhouse. A fifth-generation winemaker, Jean married Ludivine, daughter of Léon and Nicole Hell-Cadé, winemakers in Guebwiller, in 1998. Starting with the 2000 vintage, the estate took over Ludivine's parents' vineyards, and the Domaine adopted the name Dirler-Cadé.

Elsass

Nestled between the Vosges Mountains and the Rhine River, Alsace is a unique wine region with a semi-continental climate, one of the driest in France. Its incredibly diverse soils produce wines of great purity with a wide aromatic range.

The region is dominated by noble white grape varieties such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Muscat. Each expresses a unique identity, combining aromatic intensity, minerality, and balance. Alsatian wines are distinguished by their clarity, freshness, and ability to faithfully reflect their terroir, particularly through the Alsace Grand Cru appellations. The region also produces sweet wines from late-harvested grapes.

What is a natural wine?

What is a natural wine?

A natural wine is made from organic or biodynamic grapes, harvested by hand and vinified without chemical inputs. No yeast or additives are used, and sulfur is very limited. The wine thus fully reflects the terroir and the winemaker's work.
