Description

The 2022 Paradis Saint-Pierre is a nectar of pure finesse and elegance. It is one of the prides of Domaine Coursodon. Its color is a deep, brilliant purple. The nose offers intense aromas of red fruit, black olives, and spices. The palate is full-bodied, complex, and concentrated, with abundant tannins. This is a perfect example of the marriage between grape variety and terroir, expressing the great typicity of the appellation. This wine requires a few years to fully develop and improve.

Paradis Saint-Pierre will work wonders with a saddle of lamb cooked in its hay crust or with Tournedos Rossini.

The vines, planted on steep slopes with very granitic soil, benefit from a full southern exposure. Green harvesting is carried out at veraison to limit yields. Mechanization is impossible, which is why all vineyard work is done by hand. Finally, the whole harvest is transported in 40 kg crates to the winery where an initial sorting takes place.

The grapes are sorted on a sorting table upon arrival, then destemmed. Maceration and fermentation then take place in open vats for 21 to 25 days with 2 to 3 daily punch-downs. The aim is to achieve a high extraction of tannins and color. Aging is carried out in two stages: first 12 months in barrels and demi-muids, followed by 6 months in a horizontal, ovoid concrete tank.

Coursodon

Als Winzer in fünfter Generation trat Jérôme 1998 in den Betrieb seines Vaters Pierre ein. Mit seinen feinen und eleganten Weinen hat er die Domaine Coursodon maßgeblich geprägt und sagt gern: „Es ist die Summe der kleinen Details, die den Unterschied macht.“ Diese Philosophie leitet jeden Jahrgang der Domaine Coursodon, deren Weine heute zu den besten der Appellation Saint-Joseph zählen. Diesen Ruf verdanken sie insbesondere dem ständigen Streben nach Exzellenz, das alle Generationen der Familie Coursodon angetrieben hat. Die Weinberge der Domaine (16 Hektar, davon 13,5 Hektar Rotweine und 2,5 Hektar Weißweine) liegen hauptsächlich in Mauves, dem Geburtsort von Saint-Joseph, auf Granitboden – einem idealen Terroir für Syrah. Einige Parzellen erstrecken sich auch über die umliegenden Dörfer.

Nördliches Rhônetal

Das Rhônetal ist eine der bedeutendsten Weinregionen Frankreichs und berühmt für seine vielen renommierten Appellationen. Es erstreckt sich entlang der Rhône zwischen Vienne und Avignon und ist in zwei deutlich unterschiedliche Teile gegliedert: den Norden und den Süden. Der nördliche Teil ist kleiner und wird von Syrah für Rotweine und Viognier für Weißweine dominiert.

Die Hänge sind steil, und die in Granitböden gepflanzten Reben bringen elegante, intensive und würzige Rotweine hervor, insbesondere Syrah-Weine. Die Region ist auch die Wiege großer Weißweine aus Viognier und Marsanne, die für ihre Finesse und Komplexität bekannt sind.

Das Rhônetal zeichnet sich zudem durch eine lange Weinbautradition und ein starkes Bekenntnis zum Respekt vor dem Terroir aus. Viele Winzer dort betreiben heute nachhaltigen Weinbau.
